TORONTO, ON | CANADA
This administration building was designed in collaboration with IBI Group to serve as a vital operational hub for the Eglinton Crosstown LRT. The project is a study in sustainable municipal infrastructure, successfully achieving Tier 2 of the Toronto Green Standards (TGS). A key feature of the environmental strategy is the integration of an extensive green roof system, which manages stormwater runoff and reduces the urban heat island effect. By prioritizing high-performance building systems and environmental stewardship, the design ensures the facility remains a resilient and energy-efficient asset for the city’s transit network.
The building’s envelope is defined by a sophisticated use of Insulated Metal Panels (IMP) as the primary cladding material. These panels provide a high thermal resistance value, contributing significantly to the project’s Tier 2 TGS certification while offering a clean, industrial-modern aesthetic. The facade is articulated through a rhythmic pattern of vertical panel joints and narrow fenestration, punctuated by a prominent glass curtain wall that provides a visual break in the long linear massing. This cladding strategy ensures a durable, low-maintenance exterior that maintains a consistent architectural language across the large-scale transit campus.
