CONCEPT

The architectural concept for the chapel revitalization centers on elevating sacred geometry through modern materiality. By integrating clean, segmented forms with high-contrast surfaces—such as the verticality of the warm ribbed wood paneling against the smooth, illuminated stone behind the crucifix—the design establishes a contemporary and reverent focal point. The approach uses light as a primary sculptural element, drawing the eye upward toward the renewed vaulted ceiling, while the strategic use of texture, from the polished marble altars to the patterned gold ceiling medallions, offers a sophisticated balance of tradition and modernity.

The new design focuses on creating a cohesive and inspiring sanctuary that meets the needs of a modern congregation. The renovation addresses the existing geometry, refining the vaulted structure to improve acoustic performance and visual flow. By utilizing a soft, contemplative palette and strategic lighting, the environment is transformed from its traditional origins into a light-filled, welcoming space that encourages quiet reflection while accommodating contemporary liturgies and community gatherings.

This modernization updates every tactile and visual surface throughout the nave and chancel to create a unified atmosphere. A sophisticated material palette replaces outdated finishes with high-quality, durable surfaces, including a complete technical refresh of the flooring systems and integrated architectural lighting. The update encompasses refined architectural millwork and a thoughtful reconfiguration of the liturgical furniture, ensuring that every element—from the pews to the ceiling treatments—contributes to a singular, harmonious environment of modern reverence.
