CONCEPT
The design for the plaza exterior is an exercise in modern modularity and rhythmic symmetry. By utilizing a repetitive bay system defined by stone-textured piers and dark metal spandrels, the architecture establishes a strong, grounded presence. The concept focuses on "transparency at the street level," using expansive glazing to dissolve the barrier between the interior commercial spaces and the public realm, creating a vibrant, interconnected community hub.
At its core, the project is a study in how commercial architecture can foster social connectivity. The building is positioned to act as a pedestrian anchor, with a layout that prioritizes ease of movement and visual accessibility. By integrating thoughtful site furniture—such as the custom wood-slat benches and built-in planters—the design extends the architectural language into the landscape. This creates a transition zone that invites the public to pause and interact, ensuring the plaza functions as a lived-in environment rather than just a transit point.
FACADE
The facade is articulated through a series of vertical bays that provide a sense of order and human scale to the building's expansive length. Each bay is framed by substantial masonry pillars, creating a rhythmic cadence that breaks down the overall massing. This structural repetition is balanced by the horizontal lines of the dark metal infills, which create a sophisticated "grid" effect. The result is an exterior that feels both permanent and light, offering a timeless aesthetic that adapts to the changing shadows and light conditions of the day.
